On the second night we saw them. Suffering numbness of extremities and a coach full of too loud American tourists, but it was worth it. Our Icelandic guide was called Gisli and we were fortified by whiskey. Back in a warm bed by just after 1am.
I have been asked to point out that the perceived colour on the retina differs from the photo sensor. The camera picks up more green radiation. We saw it as more grey-green.
