A painting by Gerald Brockhurst (1890-1978) at the Lady Lever Art Gallery. Kathleen Nancy Woodward was one of Brockhurst's models who he named Dorée. They met in the late nineteen twenties when she was a young model at the Royal Academy Schools and he a visiting professor, and she soon displaced his wife Anaïs at the center of his art.
I really love his work and I find this picture particularly fascinating for it's unsettling quality.
