I thought I might have a go at this myself (see August 1st blog here )
Of course there are many challenges too numerous to mention, but most of all it is enjoyable and engrossing. I have been going on it now most of this month off and on. You realise the more you look at a painting like this how extraordinary it is, and figuring out how Vermeer painted it just even more mysterious as you go along.
As far as I able I am sticking to the limited palette and pigments that Jan used, which you realise is all you need for a painting like this. Shocker.
