Memories are strange things. Seeing this rainbow over the hedge reminded me of my old tutor Alan 'Blind Lemon' Jefferson, and the paintings he did in a back room at college. The hedge was the hedge he saw as he washed the dishes every night, and the rainbow, well, something exciting beyond. Freedom from tyranny? He had to paint at college because his wife didn't want any mess at home. Or did we make that bit up?
